ADNI Graduate Student Scholar, Soumilee Chaudhuri, recently published an article, titled “New Alzheimer’s drug holds promise, pitfalls for patients,” featured on the National Association of Science Writers (NASW) website.
As a recipient of a NASW travel fellowship to explore science writing careers, Soumilee attended AAAS in February 2024 and was asked to write a news report covering one of the conference sessions. Her article covers a Scientific Breakthrough session on the new Alzheimer’s Drug by the NIH, represented by Dr. Madhav Thambishetty from NIA. A synopses of Dr. Thambishetty’s session, titled “At Last, Modest Headway Against Alzheimer’s” can be found here. In her article, Soumilee interviewed Dr. Thambishetty, the NIA panel, and ADNI’s very own PI, Dr. Weiner about the clinical trial success, promises, and pitfalls of the dementia drug lecanemab. I highly encourage you to read the article, which can be found here.
Great work and congratulations, Soumilee on this remarkable achievement! We are very proud of your dedication to the ADRD research field.
